We welcome proposals for Special Sessions that focus on the latest technologies and industry-relevant topics. We particularly value sessions led by industry and government authorities. Guest speakers will be celebrated with an invitation on the day of their session. The best part? No written papers are required since the content shared in these Special Sessions won't be included in the conference proceedings. Moreover, you'll have the flexibility to choose between one or two 90-minute slots, perfectly tailored to integrate seamlessly into our conference program.

STRONGLY ENCOURAGED ELEMENTS FOR SPECIAL SESSION PROPOSALS:

• Industry Involvement: Proposals with substantial industry or government engagement are highly encouraged.
• Industrial Application Focus: Emphasize industrial application-oriented sessions to address practical challenges and solutions.
• Regional Relevance: Explore PEDG 2024 regionally oriented topics to connect with the Benelux/European context.
• Cross-Disciplinary Collaboration: Proposals featuring collaborative, cross-disciplinary topics or teams are welcomed.
• Engaging Formats: Foster creative session formats that actively engage the audience, with a special emphasis on attracting industry participants.

LESS ATTRACTIVE FACTORS FOR SPECIAL SESSION PROPOSALS:

• Non-Emerging Topics: Avoid topics that are not considered emerging or cutting-edge.
• Purely Academic Lectures: Proposals should steer clear of being purely academic lectures without practical applications.
• Recent Repetition: Ensure your proposal doesn't overlap with similar topics and teams presented in the immediate past ECCE.
• Product Solicitation: Avoid proposals that focus on soliciting a particular product, maintaining the educational and non-commercial focus of the special sessions.

• Formatting Requirements: Ensure submissions are within 5 pages, utilizing either 8.5x11" or A4 paper with one-inch margins on all sides. Maintain single spacing, employ Times New Roman font, and adhere to font sizes of 11 or 12.
• Submission Template: A Word template will be provided on the official website under "Call for Special Sessions" for your convenience.
   
• Recommended Sections: Proposals should include the following sections:

1. Special Session Title
2. Proposed Session Format: Select from options like "formal presentations," "informal talks," "full Q&A panel," or "debate." Describe the format briefly and highlight any creative elements, such as software/hardware demonstrations or interactive audience polls.
3. Proposed Timing: Choose between "100 minutes" or "2x100 minutes."
4. Session Organizers: List names, titles, affiliations, and emails.
5. Session Speakers/Panelists: Include names, titles, affiliations, and clearly indicate each speaker's availability as "confirmed" or "tentative."
6. Abstract: Limit the abstract to 500 words; it will be published on the conference website and program book.
7. Session Outline: Provide a list of proposed topics/titles/activities, indicating time allocation and speaker breakdown when possible.
8. Organizer Biography: Offer brief biographies of no more than 200 words per person, optionally including external website links (though these may not be reviewed).
9. Speaker/Panelist Biography: Provide concise biographies, also limited to 200 words per person, with the option to include external website links (which may not be reviewed).

All special session proposals must be submitted by email to pedg2024@list.lu. Please follow the Proposal Form on the website as a submission template.

Prospective organizers of special sessions should submit also their proposal by email to the General Co-Chair (Prof. Pedro Rodriguez pedro.rodriguez@list.lu)

The proposals will be reviewed by a panel of subject matter experts.
